As of February 2022, it is now necessary to enable the TLS 1.2 protocol on Windows 7 in order to do an online activation of PreSonus Software. There are two ways that you can activate PreSonus Software on Windows 7 now.
1. You can download the zip file that is attached to this article, extract it, and double-click the reg key file that is inside. This will simply add the following registry entries to your registry, to enable TLS 1.2. TLS 1.2 is a more-secure protocol than what is supported by default, and if anything, this should have a positive impact on your Windows 7 machine. Please keep in mind that Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft and is not recommended for use. YOU MUST REBOOT AFTER RUNNING THE REGISTRY KEY FROM THIS ARTICLE.
*** It may be necessary to disable your antivirus software to run a registry key on your system. ***
Below is the data that will be added to the registry upon double-clicking the reg key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\TLS 1.2]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\TLS 1.2\Client]
"DisabledByDefault"=dword:00000000
2. You can do an offline activation provided that the program that you are trying to activate supports this. Here is an article from our Studio One knowledge base with information on doing an offline activation.
