Quantum 2626: Insert External Effects Processors using Line Returns

Published July 15th, 2021

It is possible to insert outboard hardware like compressors and EQs into the Quantum 2626 signal chain by using the Preamp Outs and Line Returns. These are line-level connections for channels 1 and 2.

  1. Simply connect either a microphone or an instrument-level signal to channel 1 or 2 on the front Quantum 2626.

2. Then send the signal from Preamp 1 or 2 using a 1/4 inch TRS cable to an insert or input connection point on the piece of external equipment. The processed signal can then be routed back via the Line Returns. See the below image demonstrating a PreSonus Studio Channel unit being inserted into channel 1 signal flow.

PLEASE NOTE: The Line Returns are normally both channel 1 and 2 preamp outputs, so they take precedence over the corresponding Mic/Inst input on the front of the Quantum 2626. (Gain Control on the front of the unit is not possible for inputs 1 and 2 when Line Returns are connected)
