Before proceeding, you will need to be sure that Universal Control is installed on your computer.
Universal Control can be downloaded here:
UC Surface | Downloads | PreSonus
==================================================
1. First, create a new song in Studio One after connecting and setting your StudioLive Classic USB as your Audio Device.
2. When creating a new song in Studio One, we recommend using the template associated with your mixer.
You'll notice at the top of the new song "wizard" are 3 tabs:
“Styles, Interfaces, and User.” (See screenshot)
- Open the Interfaces tab.
-
Scroll down until you see "StudioLive 16.0.2 Session"
- Studio One 6 users will need to download the StudioLive 16.0.2 Session template:
StudioLive 16.0.2 Session.zip (30 KB)
Then extract the .songtemplate and .data files from the zipped folder and place them in the following folder path: Documents\Studio One\templates\v6\Songs
The template will now appear under the "User" tab when creating a new song.
- Studio One 6 users will need to download the StudioLive 16.0.2 Session template:
- Double click on it.
You should now have all 16 channels routed 1:1 into Studio One.
============================================================
3. Then, you will need to setup Studio One playback.
First, open Studio One's "Mix" view and drag the top of the fader pane taller with your cursor to see Input/Output assignments for each channel. (Channel 1 / Channel 1) (See screenshot)
You’ll see the channel’s name twice at the top of each fader.
These are drop-down menus to select Input (Top) and Output (Bottom) for each channel.
---------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: If you do not see the Input/Output drop-downs at the top of each fader, you may need to change the setting to show "I/O Connections" (See image below) by clicking the Wrench on the left side of the screen.
If you still do not see the I/O drop-downs above each fader, you may need to stretch your Volume Sliders of StudioOne taller to show the I/O.
============================================================
4. Then set every channel's output (Bottom) to “Main Out” (See screenshot)
- 1. Choose "Mix" in the bottom right corner to show the Faders in StudioOne.
- 2. Click on the Output dropdown on your fader(s) in StudioOne.
- 3. Set your output channel to "Main Out" for each fader.
- 4. This will sum output to the Blue "Main Out" fader on the far right side of Studio One.
============================================================
After routing output to the "Main Out" stereo fader of StudioOne, you can then choose which pair of channels Studio One will return audio to on the StudioLive 16.0.2. In our example we output to Channels 15/16. (See screenshot below)
- 1. Unarm the tracks that correspond to your return channels to avoid a digital feedback loop.
- 2. Choose the Output dropdown on your Main Out fader.
- 3. Choose your Output channels to the StudioLive.
--------------------------------------------------------
5. On the console, assign channels 15/16 (for example) to USB Input-type.
For the StudioLive's input-channels to receive audio via USB, you will need to engage USB input-type on the desired channels.
- Press the USB button on the left side of the StudioLive.
- Engage USB for Channels 15 and 16 using the Numbered button above the desired channel.
- Press [Select] on Channel 15/16 and then [Link]. This will link and pan the two channels as a stereo pair.
You should now get input into every channel of Studio One while hearing playback from Studio One’s "Main Out" Output fader on channels 15/16 of your StudioLive 16.0.2 USB.
