Auxes will only output input channels.

A Matrix will output a mix of output channels.

Series III Matrix mixes allow for Input and Output channels to be mixed to a physical output.

There a multiple reasons for creating a Matrix mix, and often is used for mirroring an output to another physical output with separate DSP and Volume control.

Here are a few use-case examples:

  • Adding a Subwoofer with full-range signal from the Mains with separate EQ and Volume control.
  • Adding near/front field speakers
  • Broadcasting a copy of the Mains with separate DSP
  • Mirroring one Aux Mix to another physical output.
  • Add the Main Mix into a Monitor mix for performers on-stage.
  • Busing the Mains to additional rooms such as a cry-room or foyer.
