In order to use a Series III mixer as an AVB audio interface for your computer, the computer must support AVB, and not all computers are AVB capable. There must be hardware-level support by the ethernet connection itself, and software/driver/OS support for AVB as well.
Apple has integrated AVB into their hardware platform and OS, so most recent Macs from the past few years will have native support for AVB. The built-in application Apple uses for AVB is known as AVDECC. Hive is also a recommended open-source, AVB-routing application.
For further information on setting up AVB with AVDECC on Mac OSX 10.15+, here is a tutorial video on the basic setup required for setting your Mac as an AVB End-point for routing.
Unfortunately, on the Windows PC side it's a more difficult proposition, as you'll need a third-party solution for both hardware and software, since Microsoft does not include native support for AVB in the Windows operating system.
The main option for PC is the Streamware NIC-1 from Echo. It is desktop-only though.
This is a combination hardware/software solution, as it includes both a PCI-E network interface card and a software/driver package to enable your PC to act as an AVB endpoint device.
NOTE: It may work to allow you to record over AVB with a Windows PC, but it's important to note that it is not currently officially supported with Series III mixers. It should work in theory, but PreSonus can not yet offer any support for using it with a Series III mixer. This status may change, pending future testing.
There may also be other options for adding AVB support to a Windows PC, but just like the Echo solution, PreSonus can not currently offer any official support for them.
