ATOM SQ: Screen not lighting up with Studio One 5 open and only pads 1-16 work

Published July 22, 2020

This is most likely due to ATOM SQ being set up incorrectly as an ATOM in the External Devices section of the Options menu. Also note that ATOM SQ only works as a Native device with Studio One 5 and not Studio One 4. Here’s how you can check and also make sure ATOM SQ is setup correctly:

    • Open Studio One’s Options/Preferences menu depending on whether you’re on PC or Mac.
      • On Windows click Studio One from the task bar and then click Options
      • On Mac click Studio One from the task bar then click Preferences
    • Click External Devices
    • Review the devices in the list.
    • If you see ATOM, not ATOM SQ, select it by clicking.
    • With ATOM highlighted, click the Remove button
    • Click Add
    • Click PreSonus from the list of folders on the left hand side of the Add Device menu
    • Click ATOM SQ
    • Click Receive From dropdown in the MIDI Channels menu
    • Select ATM SQ
      • Do not use ATM SQ Control
    • Click Send To dropdown in the MIDI Channels menu
    • Select ATM SQ
      • Do not use ATM SQ Control
    • Click OK
    • The Studio One light on ATM SQ should now be blue and in Native Mode
