Placing your Apple Mac as an AVB end point in a Series III Eco system on Sonoma 14.4.1 or higher

Published on the 26th of April, 2024.

When you connect a Apple Mac to a Series III AVB system which has more than one other AVB device such as NSB or another Series III console/rack within the setup the Mac can take over the clocking and stop audio from passing.

Please see this link to understand how to use your Mac with a Series III over AVB.

It's important to understand how to place your Mac into the network as an AVB endpoint device.

This video covers supported operating systems up to Sonoma where changes where made to the AVDECC controller.

For customers using macOS Sonoma 14.4.1 or higher you need to understand the following changes when reviewing the video above.

The "Simple Virtual Audio Entity Configuration" window (@ 4:30 in the video) no longer exists in Sonoma. The equivalent of that is a check box labeled "virtual audio device" now under "AVB Configuration." Under "Network Device Browser" in Audio MIDI Setup, the StudioLive Series III has to remain UNCHECKED in order to allow the console to establish the Network Clock and thus work correctly.
