Studio 192: Erratic Startup Behavior with macOS12 / Mac OS X 10.12

Published September 6, 2016

PLEASE NOTE:  The information in this article is no longer relevant to current versions of Universal Control and MacOS, but is still for the versions that are mentioned.

During the course of our testing with macOS12, we have identified an issue and the Studio 192 / Studio 192 Mobile where during the initial startup will display erratic LED and Meter behavior on the front panel.

There is nothing wrong with your Studio 192. Don't worry, all of this is harmless to the operation of your Studio 192.

This erratic behavior occurs as a result of changes in Mac OS X and how it polls USB 3 Audio interfaces for available sample rate and channel configurations.

This anomaly will occur with or without Universal Control installed as it is a function of the operating system that is manipulating the interface.

The erratic behavior lasts for an approximately 30 seconds after the firmware ID shows on startup of your Studio 192 / Studio 192 Mobile. During this time you may see meters pegged and the LED Number display will flicker or show EE. The erratic behavior is different each time the Studio 192 is powered on.

Apple is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it in a future maintenance dot release of macOS12.

After approximately 30 seconds, the Studio 192 will sync normally and the ring around the power button will turn blue.

This does not occur on any of our other USB Audio or 1394 Interfaces.

This is isolated to USB 3.0 Studio 192 interface series only.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
