Studio One Pro 7: Windows on Arm - Getting Started
For version 7.2 or higher, Studio One Pro is available as a public beta version for the Windows on Arm platform. Please note that this version is provided primarily for plug-in developers.

Studio One needs to be activated with a MyPreSonus account and license to run on Windows on Arm, same as on Windows x86 and macOS. However, please note that PreSonus does not provide any Windows on Arm-related support until further notice.

There’s a user forum to discuss Windows on Arm related topics on Studio One Pro+ .

To participate, please enroll in the Studio One Windows on Arm Beta program here: Studio One Pro+

Certain features are currently unavailable in the Windows on Arm version:

  • 3rd-party plug-ins without native Windows on Arm support (must be Arm64, not Arm64EC, see below for further details)
  • AAF and DDP import/export
  • Dolby Atmos support
  • CD burning
  • REX file support
  • Thunderbolt support for PreSonus hardware
  • Advanced PreSonus hardware integration (preamp control, etc.)
  • Melodyne integration
  • Splice integration

Why Arm64 instead of Arm64EC?
You may have noticed that certain other DAWs or audio plug-ins are available as Arm64EC binaries. Being an intermediate technology, Arm64EC host applications can load Intel (x86) and Arm64EC plug-ins, but not native Arm64 plug-ins.

PreSonus decided against providing a Windows Arm64EC version as it does not offer performance advantages over running the Intel (x86) version of Studio One Pro in emulation mode on an Arm-based system.

Studio One Pro for Arm64 can load native Arm64 plug-ins, but not Intel (x86) and Arm64EC plug-ins.

Installation
Please be careful if you’re planning to run the Intel (x86) version of Studio One in parallel to the Arm64 version. Per default, both installers will copy the program to the same “Program Files” folder.

To avoid potential side-effects, it’s recommended to have only one version of Studio One installed. Please uninstall the Arm64 version before installing the Intel (x86) version, or vice versa.

In case you love the risk, make at least sure you’re installing into different folders by customizing the installation path accordingly, like e. g.

  • C:\Program Files\PreSonus\Studio One 7 Arm\ for the Arm version,
  • C:\Program Files\PreSonus\Studio One 7 x86\ for the intel (x86) version.
