When upgrading your operating system from one version to a new version on MacOS, it is best practice to reset your NVram. The article above will explain how to reset the NVram on Intel Macs. Here is a quote from the Apple article above...
"Shut down your Mac, then turn it on and immediately press and hold these four keys together: Option, Command, P, and R. You can release the keys after about 20 seconds, during which your Mac might appear to restart."
Apple Silicon (M1, M2, etc.):
You will need to shutdown your computer and hold down the command and r keys as soon as you press the power button. You will see an Apple logo or an icon of the globe. As soon as you see the logo, release command and r. Once in recovery mode, go to the Tools menu and open "Terminal." From the blinking cursor in the Terminal, please type the following command and press enter.
NVRAM -c
Reboot your Mac and test for your issue once more.
