If you're running out of space on your main hard drive and have multiple drives available, you can move or install the Studio One User Data folder (which contains your songs, soundsets, presets, projects, templates) onto a different drive. This way, that content can be stored and streamed from the secondary drive.
Information about the best hard drives for Studio One, specifically regarding speed, can be found here: https://support.presonus.com/hc/en-us/articles/9163185655053-Studio-One-6-I-m-thinking-of-buying-a-new-computer-What-are-some-things-that-I-should-consider
For these instructions, I will refer to that drive as the "Data Drive."
- Copy your Studio One folder from Documents and paste it to the root of your Data Drive.
- Open Studio One. Go to Studio One > Options (PC) | Preferences (macOS) > Locations and set the User Data location to the "Data Drive" > Studio One folder.
Press the [OK] button.
- Go to Studio One > Options (PC) | Preferences (macOS) > Locations > Sound Sets and set the "Install To" to that "Data Drive" > Studio One > Sound Sets folder. Then, press the [Add] button and add "Data Drive" > Studio One > Sound Sets.
Press the [OK] button.
- Go to Studio One > Options (PC) | Preferences (macOS) > Locations > Instrument Library and add Data Drive > Studio One > SoundFonts. After adding that path, remove the default path.
Press the [OK] button.
- Press [OK], and close the Options/Preferences window. Close Studio One.
- If you already have the soundsets downloaded, move them from the old location to the new location Data Drive > Studio One > Sound Sets. Then, re-index your presets. Here is a screenshot:
- If you have not downloaded the soundsets, please go to the menu Studio One > Studio One Installation. Click the [Install Options] button.
Change the "Install to" options to Data Drive > Studio One. This will set the downloads to the Data Drive > Studio One > Sound Sets folder.
For third party sample libraries, place them in a folder on the Data Drive. Then, you open that third party plugin and point its library preference to that folder on the Data Drive.
