Faderport.dll registration for Cakewalk Sonar

Depending on your version of Sonar, after running the Faderport installer you may need to manually place the .dll file in the Cakewalk Shared Surfaces folder and then register the .dll with Windows

For Sonar 64bit

FaderPort_Sonar_PC_64-Bit.zip

  1. First download the 64-Bit zip file, double click it to unzip it, then copy the FaderPort.dll from here: C:\Program Files (x86)\PreSonus\FaderPort\FaderPort Dll\Sonar\x64

  2. And paste it to here: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Surfaces\

This may be all that is required, and you can go ahead and try setting up your Faderport in Sonar.

If Sonar is not showing the Faderport as an option during Control Surface setup, you may need to register the .dll with Windows.

  1. First, click the Start menu, in the search box type CMD, and then right click and choose Run As Administrator

  2. At the command prompt type: cd C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Surfaces\

  3. Press Enter

  4. Next, again at the command prompt, type: C:\windows\SysWow64\regsvr32 FaderPort.dll

  5. Press Enter

You should get a confirmation message that the .dll has been registered

For Sonar 32bit

***NOTE:  For 32 bit versions of Windows 7 and 8/8.1, make sure you are placing this in the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Surfaces\

This may be all that is required, and you can go ahead and try setting up your Faderport in Sonar.

If Sonar is not showing the Faderport as an option during Control Surface setup, you may need to register the .dll with Windows.

  1. First, click the Start menu, in the search box type CMD, and then right click and choose Run As Administrator

  2. At the command prompt type: cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Shared Surfaces\

For Windows 7 8/8.1 systems that are only 32 bit, type this as well.

  3. Press Enter

  4. Next, again at the command prompt, type: C:\windows\System32\regsvr32 FaderPort.dll
