How To: Manually Save Your StudioLive's Presets (Mac & PC)

Universal Control, starting in version 1.5, has been coded using a new framework

that will allow us to do some really cool things as far as product integration. In the process of

changing over to this new framework, the Backup files in the old VSL became incompatible with the

new version of the software. The Scene's and Presets themselves, however, are fully compatible with 1.5.2! Here's a workaround to saving a backup, just in case anything should go wrong during your update of your StudioLive:

1. Connect your StudioLive via firewire to your Mac or PC and run Universal Control

2. Click the “Get” button in VSL's Browser

3. Click the Up Arrow in the Browser window to move your presets to your disk

4. Close VSL/Universal Control

5. Go to your Documents/Presonus folder

6. Right Click (or Command Click in OSX) your StudioLive folder and Copy it

7. Paste your StudioLive folder on your desktop

at this time, you can safely perform your update to UC 1.5.2 without fear of losing your presets due to a power failure or some other unforseen issue. While performing the update you will be asked if you would like to Restore or Reset your presets. Choose Restore to have them automatically returned to the board after the update.
